For some reason, around 1998, I began performing under the name Jason Irvin's Vehicle. I don't really know where it came from - I think it was something about being the star of the show, etc. It's not something I really love about my musical past, but it is what it is.

In 2000/2001, I began teaching myself how to play guitar. After a few basic lessons from some friends, I decided to start recording a few pieces to try something different. What started off as a handful of 4-track experiments quickly became one of my favorite Jason Irvin's Vehicle release. I paired it with a few other Renaldo and the Loaf-inspired tracks, as well as "Purple Smell," a track based on a dream where a bunch of people kept chanting for me to "smell the purple smell."

This was originally released as a DAM CD on mp3.com. I think I was the only one to ever purchase a copy of it, but those are the breaks. Mp3.com used to be a lot of fun and I discovered a lot of great artists while on the site. I'm leaving this release intact, warts and all. Fuck it, this isn't as embarrassing as the Shitty Beatles release.
